Disclosure Levels

Anyone can apply for a basic disclosure. A basic disclosure may also be requested for a new job or volunteer position that does not meet the criteria for standard/enhanced/PVG disclosure records. Basic disclosures are not available through CRBS and should be applied for via Disclosure Scotland. Please click here to go to the Disclosure Scotland website.

When can my organisation submit a PVG disclosure application? 

PVG dislcosures can be accessed for the following positions:

• Regulated work with children
• Regulated work with protected adults

When making an application for a PVG disclosure record, please ensure you submit the following paperwork:

• PVG disclosure applicaton form (this can be obtained by contacting CRBS)
• PVG Scheme coversheet
• Relevant checklist (Children, Welfare A & B, Health A & B, Care A & B, Community Care A & B)

When can my organisation submit an enhanced disclosure record?

Enhanced disclosures can be accessed for the following positions:

• If your organisation provides an adoption service and recruits individuals to become adoptive parents
• If your organisation provides activities to individuals within a Prison

Enhanced Case Study

When can my organisation submit a standard disclosure record?

Standard disclosures can be accessed for the following positions:

Any employment concerned with provision of a Care Service

• A Care Service is one which is registered and regulated by the Care Inspectorate formerly known as the Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland (SCSWIS) and also the Care Commission

Any employment or work which is concerned with the provision of health services and which is such a kind as to enable the holder to have access to persons in receipt of such services in the course of that persons normal duties.

• This includes organisations that are registered and regulated by Healthcare and Improvement Scotland (HIS), which includes Independent Health Care Services. Organisations offering services similiar to a Health Service or services within a NHS service can also be included in the above definition

Standard Disclosure Case Study

When can my organisation ask for a PVG Scheme record?

The Scheme record is the replacement for enhanced disclosures for those who work with vulnerable groups (children and protected adults). The Scheme record is designed for use by organisations when recruiting an individual to do regulated work with vulnerable groups for them to join the PVG Scheme for the first time.

When can my organisation ask for a PVG Scheme record update?

The Scheme record update is a new type of disclosure. It is designed for use by organisations when an individual who is already a PVG Scheme member (and who has already had a Scheme record issued in the past) to do regulated work for them.

Standard disclosure

• Contains all conviction information (spent and unspent) and cautions

Enhanced disclosure

• Contains all conviction information (spent and unspent), relevant non conviction information and if the individual is recorded on any relevant child or adult list (certain positions only)

PVG Scheme record

• Details the type of regulated work in respect of which the individual is a PVG Scheme member, if the individual is under consideration for listing, convictions and cautions, if the individual is included on the sex offenders register, relevant non-conviction information and prescribed civil orders

PVG Scheme record update

• Details the type of regulated work in respect of which the individual is a PVG Scheme member and if the individual is under consideration for listing. It will also detail the date that the PVG Scheme member’s Scheme record was last disclosed, a statement as to whether that Scheme record contained vetting information and either a statement confirming that no new vetting information has been added or deleted since the last Scheme record was disclosed.
