Exercise 3 – taking a step back

The following questions are designed to give you the opportunity to reflect on your organisation. Where possible, try to do this exercise with others so that you can share ideas and views about your organisation.

  1. What is the name of your organisation?
  2. What is its purpose?
  3. When was it established and who established it?
  4. If it was established some years ago, has much changed in relation to its original purpose and what it does now?
  5. What activities and services does it provide for children and/or young people?
  6. Is your organisation linked (affiliated) to a larger umbrella organisation?
  7. What is the age range of the children and/or young people who participate in the organisation?
  8. How do you involve children and/or young people in the running of your organisation?
  9. How do you involve parents/carers in the development of your organisation?

  10. If it is a local club or group, how often does it meet and where?
  11. What values and beliefs help to shape the organisation?
  12. How many workers are involved in the organisation and do they all have access to children and/or young people?

  15. How do you think your organisation is viewed by the wider local community?
