A care and protection framework to help organisations meet their legal duties under the Act?

The Protection of Children (Scotland) Act 2003 does not require you to have a care and protection framework in place, but it will be difficult to meet your legal responsibilities without a structure of this kind.

4 key activities:

• Recruiting workers
• Supporting workers
• Creating safe places for children, young people and workers
• Managing and sharing confidential information

Think about the 4 key activities and ask yourself if you already carry them out. Work through the list of tasks, guidelines and procedures to establish the level of your existing good practice and where the gaps are. Put a tick in the relevant column headed “in place”, “not in place”, “being developed”.
