Step 5:Ask all applicants to complete a self-declaration formThe self-declaration process provides an opportunity to highlight any potential difficulties/concerns at an early point in the recruitment process and gives an applicant the opportunity to supply information voluntarily. A discussion about the circumstances, timescales etc. of events detailed in a Self-Declaration Form will help organisations consider the relevance of the information in relation to the position applied for. Organisations may find an interview
process matrix (checklist) is a helpful tool for processing the
information provided in a Self-Declaration Form and, where appropriate,
during an interview. See toolkit templates for examples of a Self Declaration form and guidance notes to the Self-Declaration Form As with all the steps detailed in Steps to Recruitment (except for
Disclosure checks ), the Act does not legally
require organisations to ask individual applicants to complete a self-declaration
form.
