Step 4:

Give all applicants a task or job description

Both paid staff and volunteers should be made aware of what will be expected of them if they join your organisation.

A useful way of making this information available is through a Job Description. Volunteer Development Scotland (VDS) suggests the development of a Task Description for volunteer workers.

This approach selects people to be volunteers on the basis of their ability to do certain specified tasks.

VDS highlights a number of questions which you should find helpful when writing a Task Description.

Where possible a Task/Job Description should include information on the level of Disclosure check which will be requested for those who are appointed to that particular post.
