A Code of Conduct

The Grounds for Referral highlight the legal requirement on organisations to refer individuals to the List where the grounds for referral are met Organisations also need to consider a framework for thinking about “harm” and for processing allegations about a worker’s conduct towards a child or young person. It stressed the need to set down clear standards of behaviour within a Code of Conduct.

Codes of Conduct should reflect the belief that all individuals have the right to be treated with respect and dignity. Together with other policies and procedures, they should also be developed in consultation with a wide range of service users including children, young people and their parents/carers.
