The benefits of supporting workers

To help you and your organisation comply with the Protection of Children (Scotland) Act 2003 you should consider how and why your organisation offering regular support will build towards this.

Building on the Underpinning Principles, Key Principles 7 & 8 relate to an individuals right to support from the organisation.

By providing support to both paid and volunteer workers, your organisation will:

  • help to support the development of skilled, talented and confident individuals;
  • help individuals feel confident about voicing any concerns they may have about the care and protection of children and young people;
  • make a positive contribution to local and national child protection networks;
  • contribute to the development of a strong voluntary sector that is committed to the development of both paid and volunteer workers.
