A Policy on Whistleblowing

It is important that organisations think about how they allow workers to share concerns about other workers in a safe and confidential manner. One way of doing this is through a Policy on Whistleblowing.

Expressing concerns about a colleague’s unsatisfactory behaviour towards others (especially children and young people) is not an easy thing to do. However, it is important that such concerns are communicated to appropriate individuals such as a manager or the person in charge of a club or group. Individuals need to understand that engaging with others in malicious gossip about another individual, child and/ or young person is never acceptable. Any referrals made to the List which are considered to be vexatious or frivolous will be dismissed by Scottish Ministers.
