Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 (PVG) Training - Full Day

Location:  Jubilee House, Stirling

Event Details
This training is aimed at organisations enrolled with CRBS to ensure they are prepared and understand their requirements and obligations under the new PVG Scheme.

The training will cover the following areas which are relevant to the new PVG Scheme: 

  • Determining who within organisations should be asked to join the Scheme
  • How to access disclosure applications under the new Scheme
  • Understanding the new types of disclosures that will be available under the new Scheme
  • Defining regulated work with children and protected adults
  • Understanding harm and risk of harm in relation to the new Scheme
  • Understanding the criteria and requirements for making effective referrals under the new Scheme
This full day session will include session handouts, group discussion/exercises and handouts.

Please note that although the PVG training sessions are taking place in Stirling, CRBS is committed and would welcome the opportunity to deliver training on the new Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act directly to local groups and organisations. General Awareness Training - Half Day Session

Location: Jubilee House, Stirling

Course Details

This training is aimed at organisations wishing to enrol with CRBS to ensure they are prepared and understand their requirements and obligations under the new PVG Scheme.

The training will cover the following areas:
  • CRBS enrolment criteria and process
  • Identifying position that require disclosure
  • CRBS support services
This session will also give organisations the opportunity to start the enrolment process. Identification documents can also be verified for potential signatories at this session.
The following documents can be used to verify ID and at least 3 items should be available on the day.

This session will involve group tasks and discussion. It would be beneficial to bring along any job descriptions or role profiles for your staff/volunteers as this is a topic that will be covered. If you do not currently have these in place, this session will give you the opportunity to start to implement these.

Signatory Training – Half Day Session

Location:  Jubilee House, Stirling

Course Details

This training is aimed at CRBS enrolled signatories, change of signatory or potential signatories to ensure they are prepared and understand their requirements and obligations under the new PVG Scheme.

The training will cover the following areas:
  • Understand their requirements as a CRBS signatory and enrolled organisation.
  • Identify the correct level of disclosure for positions within their organisation.
  • Gain access to good practice tools in relation to disclosure.
  • Use the materials and information from the session to reduce the level of disclosure returned by CRBS.

Making Effective Recruitment Decisions Using Current & Future Disclosure Schemes - Full Day Session

Location:  Jubilee House, Stirling 

Event Details 
This training has been developed to ensure enrolled organisations know how to implement effective recruitment and retention policies to enable them to prepare for and understand their requirements and obligations under the new Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

Introduction to PVG / Regulated Work - Online Training

Duration: 90 minutes

Course Details

This training is aimed at organisations enrolled with CRBS to ensure they are prepared and understand their requirements and obligations under the new PVG Scheme. It will be delivered by a trainer over the internet. Participants will hear the presenter's voice and see the slide presentation on their screen. There will be the opportunity to ask questions via a "chat" facility and to speak with the presenter by phone afterwards. Please click here for further information.

The training will cover the following areas:

  • An overview of the PVG Scheme
  • Determining who within organisations should be asked to join the Scheme
  • Defining regulated work with children and protected adults

Handouts will be provided in advance of the session and will be referred to during the training. In order to obtain the full preparatory training for PVG, you should also attend the on-line courses on "PVG certificates" and "Referrals and listing", but the courses can be taken in any sequence.
